Because you heard someone mention they had found the “Primo” stuff / juice / resin / coating, and that it was a polyurea. You’d heard of this polyurea stuff before. It sounded like a cool product, and you thought you might try it out. But you weren’t sure if it would do exactly what you needed. And the other companies you talked to either seemed to somehow know less than you did, or they wanted to sell you thirty things you didn’t need. We won’t do either of those things, we promise.

Industrial Coatings

Formula 5™ is the workhorse of our industrial coating line of high performance polyureas. General Info

Formula 5™, like many of our polyurea coatings, is a very flexible protective coating and waterproofing solution. It was designed initially to accommodate any movement of the substrate to which it would be applied, meaning that it has the ability to remain intact in pretty much all conditions aside from major structural damage. The elastomeric nature of polyurea, and Formula 5 in particular allows the coating to stretch and elongate, and then return to its original shape, in ways that traditional coating systems simply cannot handle without separating from the substrate or failing outright.

Applications & Uses

Formula 5™ can be used in a wide variety of applications. Because of its excellent adhesion, superior elongation, and relatively minimal shrinkage, Formula 5 is perfect for concrete and metal substrates, as well as geotextile fabrics. However, at a high level the majority of uses are closely related to extending service life and protection from environmental factors.

Specially designed for application to porous substrates like concrete, Formula 6 is a two-part polymer system that provides outstanding protection against all the usual suspects — abrasion, biological build-up, chemical exposure, corrosion, and general damage. With quicker cure and tack-free times, Formula 6 protects concrete like nobody’s business.

General Info

Formula 6™ is a flexible, yet very durable protective coating and waterproofing solution. It was designed initially to coat concrete, and therefore can handle all movement apart from major structural dislocation (like if the concrete completely crumbled).  The elastomeric nature of polyurea, and Formula 6 in particular allows the coating to stretch and elongate, and then return to its original shape. In fact, reinforced concrete buildings which had been coated with polyurea were some of the only structures left standing after tsunamis hit and devastated most of the buildings along the coast of Japan in 2011.

Applications & Uses

Formula 6™ can be used in a wide variety of applications. Because of its excellent adhesion to concrete, Formula 6 is obviously the perfect choice for waterproofing concrete and other porous substrates. However, at a high level the majority of uses are focused on extending service life and protection from damaging environmental factors.

Roof Coatings

Roofix™ Formula 7™

Roofix™ Formula 7™ is designed specifically for roofing. No other polyurea coating on the market has been as rigorously formulated and tested for roof applications. Formula 7 is the first truly capable polyurea system with a +2 hour fire rating on a variety of substrates and roof slopes. Other manufacturers may claim they have a polyurea made for roofing, but only Primo Poly has Roofix™ Formula 7™.

General Info

Roofix™ Formula 7™,  created in response to decades of requests from roofing professionals, is the first polyurea roof coating to meet the strict standards for safety and fire ratings. Other manufacturers have created flame resistant polyurea coatings which work well for interior walls, but Primo Poly saw the very real need for a polyurea coating that could be applied to roof assemblies and still maintain an acceptable fire rating.

Fire ratings (spread and smoke) are dependent upon the materials of the substrate, as well as the slope of the surface. Coatings designed for vertical surfaces have different, lesser requirements for fire resistance, so don’t be fooled by fast-talking sales people. Ask for Roofix™ Formula 7™ by name. If they don’t have it, or don’t know what you’re talking about, don’t bother.

Applications & Uses

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Formula 7™ is specifically designed for application to roof assemblies where it provides protection from the environment as well as increased fire resistance, regardless of slope.

Primers

Primo Poly Polyprime One™ is a two-component isocyanate and resin-blend primer that can be used on a variety of porous substrates. To reduce viscosity, Polyprime One may be diluted with dry acetone. The primer has an average working time of 45 minutes. Ponding on the surfaces should be avoided.

General Info

Polyprime One™ is our house blend – that is to say, this primer works nearly everywhere. From concrete to metal to other porous substrates, Polyprime One works to reduce pinholes and increase adhesion. In addition, it penetrates and seals the substrate prior to coating applications, typically improving the observed physical properties of any subsequent coating.

Applications & Uses

This primer can be used with all our polyureas. It was originally designed to be a part of a holistic system with our protective coatings. However, Polyprime One can actually be used as a penetrating sealer for concrete. Furthermore, it can even be applied to green concrete! Granted, most uses end up being as a base for additional layers of protection. Nevertheless it’s widely versatile as a primer, for both interior and exterior applications.
